Nestled in the village of Broughton on the Broughton Hall Estate just outside of Skipton is The Bull. A traditional pub serving food in a cosy setting during the winter and has outdoor seating for those warmer days in the countryside.

The pub itself is situated on a main road with a private car park, it’s also a great place to stop for a pint if you’re out walking in the Broughton Estate.

We had booked in advance and had a table in the restaurant area. There’s also a cosy area at the bar with an open fire, which would be perfect after an autumnal walk.

We visited in October which was Game month, this meant there were different specials available as well as the regular menu.

Food at The Bull at Broughton

We started with some sharing starters – Houmous and pitta bread and chorizo sausage. These were delicious and a great insight into the tasty food you can expect at The Bull.

It felt like quite a special meal out and so we both had a nice glass of Shiraz to go with lunch.

Then it was time for the main meals. I selected the steak burger which was delicious, the flavour of the meat was exceptional. It is worth visiting again for. My boyfriend went for the sausage and mash special on the game menu which again, was of the highest quality and tasted divine.

After all that food, we were too full for a lunchtime dessert but the menu had about 3 or 4 I would have selected, this is very unusual for me as I am not usually one to go for puddings.

The Bull at Broughton is certainly worth a drive to or a walk if you want to explore Broughton Hall as well. My memories of Broughton Hall are of an exceedingly muddy and painful charity run which I don’t want to repeat, thankfully The Bull has created some happy and delicious memories to savour going forward. I can’t wait to go back!
