REVIEW : We Had A Roaring Time at West Midlands Safari Park
Why we loved West Midlands Sarafi Park
West Midlands Safari Park is a great day out for any age. There is a huge range of things to see and do, there is no opportunity to get bored here, plus it is great in any weather (within reason of course).
Expect:
To spend a full day here! The four-mile self-drive Safari itself took us between 90 minutes and two hours to drive around and this was on a quiet day. After that you will need at the very least another couple of hours to really see everything and that’s not including the theme park and food stops. It really is jam packed and full of excitement. I would recommend snacks for the car and a few toys for the younger ones (just keep them away from the animals).
Value for money:
At £24 per adult, £19 per child and concessions £22 it isn’t the cheapest day out; however, it is certainly not the most expensive family attraction I have visited. The theme park is an optional extra and costs £14.50 per adult, £12.50 per child and £13.50 for concessions. There is also an option for a four-ride ticket which is £6. The large ‘Boj’s Giggly park’ play area is free and was just enough for my 16-month year old, she didn’t want to leave and burned off all her energy for the ride home.
I would say that it is most definitely good value for money based upon the amount there is to see and do and the full day out that it provides.
Setting the scene:
Nestled in a small village between Worcester and Birmingham, this huge attraction really is a wonder. Zoo, Safari, Farm and theme park all rolled into one, you can really see why this attraction is award winning. Drive straight up to the ticket office, there is no need to get out of the car before embarking on the safari, then park up and marvel at the huge range of attractions. This fabulous day out is just perfect for the whole family.
What to look out for:
The self-drive safari is home to some of the worlds most beautiful and critically endangered animals. It is split into African and Asian areas. From gentle Giraffes, stunning Zebras and mesmerising white rhino to magnificent Sumatran Tigers, Majestic elephants and roaring white lions, almost all of the animals are free-roaming and can literally walk straight past your car.
The discovery trail hosts a number of exhibits from a daily Sea Lion show and a penguin cove. You can even hand feed Lorikeets and much more.
Not forgetting our endangered friends, the ‘Land of the Living Dinosaurs’, a £2.5 million project that holds the title of the UK’s largest animatronic dinosaur attraction.
You can also explore ‘Ice Age’, an immersive, multi-sensory experience and the ‘African Village’. Here you can walk with Lemurs, view cheeky Meerkats and feed mischievous Somali Sheep, Pygmy Goats and Cameroon Sheep.
Food and Drink:
After the safari itself, there is a huge range of eateries from burger stalls, ice cream stands and a pizzeria or you can enjoy a sit-down lunch at one of their two wonderfully themed main restaurants – Dino Diner or Burger Co.

Children’s Wellbeing | Kids these days – they’ve got it made – or have they?
I’m a primary school teacher and I’m a mum to a beautiful, bright and bubbly six-year-old. I witness the ups and downs of wellbeing in children every day. Every parent faces the same dilemma – how to ensure the wellbeing of our children – particularly from a mental health perspective in a world that is more pressured than ever in more ways than one.
REVIEW | Festive Food at The Green House in Sutton Coldfield – The Midlands
I am a pub girl through and through and a glutton for a good, hearty menu. Forever hunting out new locations to catch up with my friends or to go for lunch with the family, so was super excited to discover this little gem situated in the beautiful Sutton.
REVIEW | Teddy Bears Picnic at Elements Coffee House in Derby
I had already heard good things about Elements. Despite only just celebrating their first birthday, they’ve been nominated for two awards in Marketing Derby’s food and drink awards (Best Newcomer and Best Customer Service). Thanks to their beautifully curated Instagram feed they were firmly on my Girl About radar.
So when Elements got in touch to invite us to try their teddy bear’s picnic themed children’s menu I jumped at the opportunity. I can’t tell you the last time I enjoyed a delicious lunch out with my toddler. We have loads of fun but I’d pretty much resigned myself that civilised lunches at nice places were largely a thing of the past. I was intrigued to see whether this was the answer. In the week or so before, Lily was bubbling with excitement. I remained somewhat sceptical.
RECOMMENDATION | The Stratford Brasserie, Stratford – East London
Thursday night a couple of weeks ago and my Dad was in town. My step-mum had gone to an ABBA event at the O2 and he didn’t really fancy getting all dressed up like a Super Trooper, so we decided to go out for a bite to eat. I’d been to The Stratford once before when it first opened in the summer and was impressed with their Stratford burger, so thought it was worth having another look.
