Magical Woodland

Blakemere Village, Cheshire

By Jenny Schippers – 10th October 2020
What I loved about the Magical Woodland:

This magical outdoor light trail is set in woodland at Blakemere Village, just south of Warrington close to Delamere Forest. In its fourth year, this hugely impressive walking experience is safe, socially distanced, and perfect for the whole family. The interactive light installations, many set to music, encourage adults and children of all ages to get involved! There is a clearing with food/drink and marshmallows to toast (additional charge) as well as Birds of Prey.

Worth paying a babysitter?

No need! This is a lovely family-friendly activity for children and adults of all ages. Bear in mind, the paths are uneven woodland trails so leave the pram at home and use a baby carrier. It may be difficult for those that struggle to walk long distances (takes about an hour to complete) or have walking difficulties. My daughters, 3 and 6 years old, had no problem walking the whole trail themselves.

Lots of colourful lights and interactive displays set to music. As this experience is outdoors and in woodland, remember to wear wellies and appropriate warm, waterproof clothing. The trail takes approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete, the time slots are staggered and there is plenty of space throughout to socially distance easily. There are toilets and food outlets on site. Parking is free.

Value for money: (out of 10)

For a family of four, the cost is £50-55 depending on the day/time slot. I believe this represents good value for money given that the whole family can get involved and the time it takes to complete the trail.

Slots of selling quickly for this event with all weekend slots now fully booked. I would absolutely recommend this event and I encourage you to book your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

This is a Girl About recommendation. This means that it was not gifted in return for a review but paid in full by our writer and the venue had no idea that I was there. We only recommend places we absolutely love, and places that we know you’ll love too!

This is a Girl About review. I was invited by the management to dine at their restaurant free of charge in exchange for an honest and frank review. All my opinions are my own and in no way have they been swayed by their kind invite. Girl About reviews are always 100% honest. We only publish reviews that, for the most part, are positive.
