Fishermans Bingley
What I loved about The Fisherman’s:

A traditional British pub on the side of the canal, perfect for a quick drink to take a break from walking or to stay for longer and enjoy some good pub grub.

Traditional pub food in front of the fire in winter or by the canal in the summer.

Value for money: (out of 10)

The easiest first post-lockdown pub visit has to be the local pub. For my first meal out, I ventured to the Fisherman’s Inn in Bingley to enjoy for my first post-lockdown lunch out and I was relieved to have had a great experience.

For everyone, life has changed a lot and it can be a strange feeling going to pubs and restaurants. Life at The Fisherman’s hasn’t changed too much and for me, this was good to have some familiarity.

At the time of writing, The Fisherman’s are not offering bookings which means you can walk in and find a table. Situated halfway between the Saltaire and Bingley centre it’s a popular stop for people walking along the Leeds Liverpool canal. They have a fairly spacious outdoor seating area too.

You have to provide your details at the bar for the government’s Track and Trace. As in “normal times” you order at the bar. We were seated where we could see the bar and everyone was giving each other plenty of room to order.

To start with, The Fisherman’s are offering a limited menu but there was still plenty to chose from. As it was lunchtime we went for baguettes – The steak and cheese and the roast beef and gravy.

We had half each and they were both equally delicious. The baguettes were packed with meat and accompanied by home-cooked chunky chips and a salad.

To accompany the food we had a bottle of our favourite Australian Shiraz which was perfect for a Sunday lunch.

It was a sunny day and there were plenty of tables available with people coming in and out and using the sanitising stations.

It was a great experience at our local pub for a first post-lockdown meal in the Bradford area. I can’t wait for the menu to be expanded going forward and to go back for lunch and dinner sometime soon.

This is a Girl About recommendation. This means that it was not gifted in return for a review but paid in full by our writer and the venue had no idea that I was there. We only recommend places we absolutely love, and places that we know you’ll love too!
