Paradise Island Adventure Golf, Cheshire Oaks

By Jenny Schippers – 20th September 2020
What I loved about Paradise Island Adventure Golf:

Paradise Island Adventure Golf (PIAG) is located at the Coliseum Leisure Park next door to Cheshire Oaks in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This shopping and entertainment mecca is the perfect place to spend the day with your family. Along with my husband and two daughters, 3 and 6 years old, we visited PIAG at opening time (10 am) on Sunday 20th September. It was pleasantly quiet and we spent a fabulous couple of hours playing both courses – Coral Cove and Lazy Lagoon, both 18 holes without feeling rushed at all.

The attention to detail is unbelievable with sound effects, lots of exciting props, and moving parts. We particularly loved the Great White Shark in Coral Cove complete with a Jaws soundtrack when you passed it and in the Lazy Lagoon, the bazaar smelt authentically of spices which really interested the girls. To play both games took approx 1hr 15 mins and our whole family was engaged and excited throughout. We absolutely loved it!

Covid Safety Precautions

Masks are to be worn throughout the building however, as the girls are both so young, they did not wear them and that did not appear to be an issue. On arrival, we were greeted and advised of the safety procedures in place. Currently, there is a one-way system and they are carefully staggering groups across the two different courses to allow for social distancing.

At present, no more than four people (from the same household) can attend as a group which seems a little unfair for larger families with 3/4 children. Instead of pens/paper to score you are encouraged to download the app so you can scan the QR codes at each hole to keep tally of your score. If this seems too complicated, remember to bring a pen/paper as they no longer provide them.

We felt very safe throughout our visit and actually did not come across another party at all.

A really enjoyable family-friendly activity that is suitable for all ages (2/3 years upwards) and a perfect wet weather day out. Both my girls really enjoyed it and although they have never played before, were actually really good at it. It was a lovely way to bond as a family without any other distractions and it would be a great place to visit as a treat going forward. You could combine with a meal out at any one of the eating establishments on the same site or a trip to the neighbouring cinema complex.

Value for money: (out of 10)

A ticket for a family of four costs £26.00 and for both courses, £39.00. Each course takes approximately 35-40 minutes to complete. Although my visit today was kindly gifted, I would definitely pay to visit again as the attention to detail on the courses is fantastic, it is engaging and very enjoyable. It would be a fantastic place to visit for a birthday or family celebration.
