Our Top 5 | New Year’s Eve Events in Yorkshire

20th December 2018

Stuck for ideas this New Year’s Eve? Bored of the usual bars? We’ve sought out five of the best events going on in Yorkshire, just for you.

Alexander’s, Skipton

New Year

Alexander’s in Skipton always puts on a bloody good show. If their Off-Piste event was anything to go by, then their New Year’s Eve party will be a cracker. This year’s theme is a ‘Back to the 80’s Extravaganza’. There will be plenty of retro styling along with a five course 80s’ inpired meal from executive chef, Struan Macintyre, including classic favourites like Mushroom Supreme Vol au Vent and Maraschino Cherry Baked Alaska. They have also confrimed that a Mr T lookalike will be in attendance, and will be revealing the identity of their ‘superstar’ 80s’ DJ very shortly!

Pudsey Civic Hall

New Year

Due to the huge demand last year, Trouble At The Mill are hosting their 2018 New Year’s Eve party at Pudsey Civic Hall bringing together one huge night of comedy, music and entertainment. This year’s comedians are Alun Cochrane (as seen on Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You) as well as Leeds-based, Britain’s Got Talent finalist, Micky P Kerr. Mr Wilson’s Second Liners will be providing the tunes with DJ Mark Afro carrying on into the early hours.

Children’s Wellbeing | Kids these days – they’ve got it made – or have they?

I’m a primary school teacher and I’m a mum to a beautiful, bright and bubbly six-year-old. I witness the ups and downs of wellbeing in children every day. Every parent faces the same dilemma – how to ensure the wellbeing of our children – particularly from a mental health perspective in a world that is more pressured than ever in more ways than one.

RECOMMENDATION | Exquisite Fine Dining in York – The Bow Room at Grays Court

Before I move onto the impeccable five-course tasting menu, it’s only fair to mention that Grays Court is the only hotel in York with private access to the city’s mediaeval city walls and the view of the Minster from some of the hotel’s well-appointed rooms is incredible. There’re only 12 rooms making this little piece of 12th century Jacobean real-estate more like a rather large and rather plush family home than a hotel.

RECOMMENDATION | Food Truck Heaven at Platform At The Arches – Glasgow

Food trucks offering an epic selection of food flavours from across the world hosted under the iconic railway arches of Glasgow Central station. This place ticks all my boxes – kid-friendly, dogs welcome, great food selection, beer to keep the hubby happy (including a microbrewery within), play area to burn off some toddler energy – but not compromising on style, decent wine if required or cool location.
