MEET NATALIE – GIRL ABOUT THE ISLE OF WIGHT

Hi, my name is Natalie and I live on a beautiful little island at the very bottom of the UK called the Isle of Wight. I am a Beauty business owner, Photographer, wife to husband Kev and cat mum to two polar opposite little furry felines. I am motivated by an innate passion for life which has lead me to have many a hobby in the past and a thirst to always learn new things;  just call me Jack(ie) of all trades rather than master of just one – Life’s too short to have just one passion anyway right!? I am an animal lover and a bit of a friend hoarder; I find people deeply interesting and am an only child, so for me, friendship and connection is everything. I haven’t lived here on the Isle of Wight all my life, I was actually born in Portsmouth, just across the water, but I moved when I got together with my boyfriend (now husband) and have been living here for over 10 years now, I absolutely love it and ‘The Island’ as us locals so fondly call it, has a pull like no other place I’ve known before. Life on the Isle can be somewhat slower than that of city life, but that’s kind of what I like about it the most. I consider myself very lucky to live here and I can’t wait to share a little of its wonder with you too.

10 Random Facts About Me

    1. I cannot lie and have never been able to, it’s both a strength and a weakness, my parents knew absolutely everything about me as I was growing up!
    2. I don’t have a favourite colour.. I know it’s weird but I just don’t.
    3. I have a chronic illness called fibromyalgia and although it’s been pretty life changing I work very hard at not allowing it to be life ruling.
    4. Very randomly I can remember and recite the longest word in Welsh, I learnt it in a song in primary school and have never been able to forget it since “Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch” – try saying that after a couple of Proseccos!
    5. I am Christmas crazy, as any of my friends will happily tell you and I’m the person who starts getting excited about it as soon as September rolls around (if not sooner)
    6. My first ever music concert I attended was a Meatloaf concert that my dad took me to see with our cousins, at Wembley Stadium, in my very early teens. My dad is a huge fan, so much so that we performed one of his songs as our ‘Dad and Daughter Dance’ at my wedding instead of the usual slow dance together.
    7. I happy cry just as much as I sad cry, if not more.
    8. I bumped straight into Colin Firth at The Isle of Wight festival a couple of years back.. I thought it looked a bit like him but I didn’t fully realise until I saw a picture of him in the local newspaper a few days afterwards, needless to say the Bridget Jones fan in me has never quite forgiven myself for not recognising him at the time.
    9. My two favourite smells are the smell that comes off of the ground/pavement immediately after summer rain and the smell of hot buttered popcorn because it reminds me of being in Disney World, Orlando.
    10. I am, hands down, the soppiest and biggest hopeless romantic you’ll ever meet. I will always happy cry at rom-coms (I told you I do it a lot), First Dates is my go-to comfort program and I’ll watch random peoples wedding videos to cheer myself up if I ever feel sad.
