katy mason girl about west kentAll About Katy

Hello! I’m Katy, a prosecco drinking, book obsessed 30-something with a love of travel, the great outdoors and photography. I live in the beautiful town of Tunbridge Wells with my husband Adam, our young daughter Ellie and two mad cats Teddy and Dora.

Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to travel to some incredible countries around the world, including New Zealand, Peru, Argentina, South Africa and Fiji. I’ve hiked, road tripped, photographed, eaten and slept in some of the most amazing places, and loved every moment of it. However, there really is no place like home. Growing up in East Sussex, I’ve spent most of my life in the South East, living in London during my twenties, before settling down in Kent in 2017. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, stunning coastlines and historic landmarks, I love days out exploring our gorgeous corner of England! From fairytale castles and charming country villages, to ancient woodlands and remarkable rock formations; vibrant towns and independent vineyards, to formal gardens and rolling countryside, West Kent has so much variety, and I can’t wait to share it all with you!

10 Facts About Me:

1 New Zealand is one of my favourite places in the world and I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice. It holds a very special place in my heart as it’s also where my husband proposed!

2 I worked in TV and film publicity for 10 years, looking after press campaigns for some big dramas including The Night Manager, Victoria and Death In Paradise, as well as 6 series of Geordie Shore!

3 Despite having a terrible fear of heights, I cycled the so-called ‘Death Road’ in Bolivia a few years ago which was absolutely terrifying… but I lived to tell the tale!

4 I love a road trip and it’s my favourite way to explore a new place. As well as the freedom of being on the open road, there’s something really special about planning a route and creating a playlist for the journey.

5 As a teenager, I was part of the Combined Cadet Force and ended up really enjoying it. As a 5ft tall blonde girl, I surprised everyone by training as an Army Lance Corporal.

6 At university, I was involved with the student TV station and won 4 National Student TV Awards for shows I made, including one covering that year’s London Film Festival.

7 The food at our wedding was inspired by an incredible meal my husband and I had on a gaucho farm in Argentina. I still salivate just thinking about it!

8 I love visiting vineyards and spent my 30th birthday on a tour of a local Kent winery, Hush Heath. Sipping their sparkling wine in the sunshine was the perfect way to welcome in a new decade.

9 My favourite film is Moulin Rouge! and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. I loved going to the Secret Cinema performance of it a few years ago.

10 One of the toughest yet amazing things I’ve ever done was to complete the Inca Trail – a four day, 25 mile hike across the Peruvian mountains to reach the iconic Machu Picchu. It was so hard but arriving to watch the sunrise over the ancient citadel was a memory I’ll never forget.
