You are spoilt for choice in Cheshire when it comes to amazing local ice cream farms. Throughout the county, we have an array of traditional dairy farms that have diversified over the years and now offer not only a delectable sweet treat for the taste buds but also a destination in themselves to spend anything from an hour to a full day! Here are my top 5 favourite Cheshire ice cream farms that I recommend you visit over the Summer holidays. (Image above credit: Snugburys)

My Top 5 Favourite Cheshire Ice Cream Farms

The Ice Cream Farm

I feel like I must begin this article by focusing on the ridiculously successful Ice Cream Farm, near Tattenhall. Considered to be one of the largest ice cream farms in the UK, this phenomenal ice cream adventure park began life as a side offering and has since spiraled into a major tourist attraction with visitors travelling from far and wide to experience Daisy’s magical outdoor playground, Strawberry Falls adventure golf and the Silvercone race track. It is easy to forget there are also over 50 flavours of ice cream on offer too! You must pre-book your time slot before arriving however there is a drive-thru option available for those short on time. Open daily 12-5 pm (and until 4 pm on Sundays).

Snugburys

An incredibly popular and much-loved local landmark, the giant annual sculptures at this ice cream farm, as well as the quaint feel pulls visitors back time and time again. Located just off the A51 at Hurleston, the farm allows visitors the opportunity to purchase an ice cream and then enjoy a walk across the field to the giant sculpture, this year a bee, raising money for The Bumblebee Conservation Trust. With plenty of open lawns to sit and relax as well as a drive-thru available, this farm offers a relaxed country vibe and would be the perfect place to combine with a visit to the historical town on Nantwich or Lakemore Farm Park to fill a full day. Open daily 10-6 pm.

Seven Sister Ice Cream Farm

Located just outside Knutsford, Seven Sisters maintains an authentic traditional exterior with a super-stylish indoor seating area. The team pride themselves on providing ‘posh’ ice cream and they certainly deliver. The indoor barn features a comfortable sofa area, cottage style seating, and ‘The Collecting Yard’ provides a light and airy space used for a variety of events (check their website for updates). The outside yard is a child’s paradise with a wooden teepee, Little Tikes cars, a sandpit, and a quaint play barn. The dairy herd is close by to provide plenty of entertainment and they also offer a summer maze maize to keep older children occupied. The ice cream sundaes are to die for as well as fantastic homemade cakes, light bites, and great coffee. This place ticks the boxes for both adults and children alike. Open Thursday – Sunday 11-4 pm.

Great Budworth Ice Cream Farm

This hidden gem may be small but it makes up for it in character. The quintessential tearoom, complete with red gingham fabrics, serves homemade cakes, scones, and ice cream as well as a small lunch menu. The grassed garden provides outdoor seating adjacent to the farmyard and there are small climbing toys available for little ones. It’s not uncommon to witness the dairy herd crossing from the fields back into the milking yard and it’s a lovely sight to see. Across the road, there is a smallholding that you can visit free of charge and feed is available to purchase from the shop for the chickens and goats. Combine with a trip to Marbury Park, Great Budworth Village, or the Anderton Boat Lift to make for a fantastic day out. Opening times Thursday – Sunday 12-4 pm.

Dunham Massey Ice Cream Farm

Located just outside Altrincham and situated on the sprawling Dunham Massey estate, this small, family-run business provides welcome relief away from the  neighbouring National Trust property of the same name. There is often the Little Red Pizza Company on-site providing savoury treats to accompany the delicious farm ice cream on offer. Combine this with a visit to the Little Heath Farm Shop for an all-round local foodie experience. This would be a great stop before or after a walk at Dunham Massey, Tatton Park, or Lymm Dam. Close by you have the town of Atrincham with its fantastic Market Hall which is always worth a visit. Open daily, 12-6 pm.

Enjoy!

This is a Girl About recommendation. This means that it was not gifted in return for a review but paid in full by our writer and the venue had no idea that I was there. We only recommend places we absolutely love, and places that we know you’ll love too!
