A weekend glamping at Coast and Camplight in the North Yorkshire Moors

RECOMMENDATION | Billy Bob’s Parlour & Diner – The Yorkshire Dales 88

What a brilliant family weekend adventure at Coast and Camplight in the North York Moors.

It cost £250 for the 3 of us plus 2 dogs, Fri-Sun for a glamping tent that sleeps 4.

Coast and Camplight is positioned perfectly between Whitby and Robin hoods bay in the glorious North York Moors National Park, with stunning views over Whitby Abbey. It has been a family farm and home for over 50 years and currently has two off-grid woodland camps.

Both camps are made up of generous safari tents, a great sized front decking area with an alfresco kitchen and dining space. With your own unique shower, washroom, and composting loo.

Each of the woodland camps has its own theme, and I really appreciated the little thoughtful and homely touches throughout. The name of our camp was the ‘Wild Woods’. A quirky, cosy space of bright boho, vintage loveliness, nestled next to the trees with our own little stream. Nothing but the sound of the breeze, birdsong, and flowing water, it really was bliss.

We had never been glamping before but knew camping wasn’t really for us, so we were not sure what to expect.

As we stepped into our accommodation for the first time, we were pretty happy to see a big double bed plus bunk beds, comfy seats, and a log burner, with plenty of wood to last us during our stay.

There were fluffy towels provided, eco soap, washing up liquid, tea towels, and toilet roll. Along with every kitchen utensil, you can think of.

Some great retro books on the sideboard and an old suitcase tucked under the bed full of games for those rainy days or chilled family evenings.

Ed and Verity really have thought of everything.

Just outside there were two hammocks (which we loved), a seating area, and a fire pit. Perfect for toasting marshmallows. I also loved how the twinkling fairy lights guided the way around the camp as the sun set.

The second woodland camp is aptly called ‘Northern Skies’ set in more of an open location if you’d prefer watching the stars, and most definitely where we’d love to try next!

So to round up our first family glamping trip I’d say it was a quirky, cosy, coastal weekend getaway filled with adventure in one of my favorite places and we can’t wait to return.

This is a Girl About recommendation. This means that it was not gifted in return for a review but paid in full by our writer and the venue had no idea that I was there. We only recommend places we absolutely love, and places that we know you’ll love too!
