My top 3 places for alfresco dining in Gloucestershire

By Maria Butler – 20th July 2020

There is nothing quite like dining al fresco on a summer evening and we really are spoilt for choice in Gloucestershire when deciding where to go out to eat.

More and more local bars and restaurants are now starting to reopen and many are advertising al fresco dining. I have chosen 3 local places that I can’t wait to visit to have dinner made for us!

Greek on the Docks, Gloucester

Visit Greek on the Docks for exceptional Greek and Mediterranean cuisine at the lovely setting of the Historic Gloucester Docks. Delicious food and amazing cocktails, with friendly and efficient service. Their dockside terrace is the perfect candlelit spot for some summer al fresco dining.

Greek on the Docks re-opened for sit down meals on 4th July and has put in Covid-19 safety measures spreading out tables and giving access to hand sanitiser. Due to the reduced number of seating, it is highly advisable to book your table.

The Croft, Bourton on the Water

Book your outdoor dining spot at The Croft and you won’t be disappointed! Their garden has just been refurbished and is complete with lovely sail shades and twinkly lights. A truly lovely environment to start your day with a delicious full English, or to relax and unwind and enjoy a divine evening meal with a glass of wine to end your day.

The Croft re-opened for seated dining on 4th July and has a strict booking only system to help keep everyone safe. Booking can be done via their online form or by telephone.

The Farmers Boy Inn, Longhope

Winner of 31 British Pies Awards and using local produce where possible, you have to try this place if you haven’t already!

They have reconfigured their dining spaces to help keep everyone as safe as possible. They have set up Gloucestershire’s first ‘PIED-AWAYS’, which are lovely isolation pods that can cater to a maximum of 6 guests. These provide an ideal safe and secure environment for those who would wish to “dine and enjoy The Farmer’s Boy Inn country style dining experience”.

The Inn re-opened for eating on-site on 8th July with great COVID safety measures in place. Please note that you must currently book your table – either online or by telephone.
