RECOMMENDATION | Exquisite Fine Dining in York – The Bow Room at Grays Court

Before I move onto the impeccable five-course tasting menu, it’s only fair to mention that Grays Court is the only hotel in York with private access to the city’s mediaeval city walls and the view of the Minster from some of the hotel’s well-appointed rooms is incredible. There’re only 12 rooms making this little piece of 12th century Jacobean real-estate more like a rather large and rather plush family home than a hotel.

REVIEW | Fine Dining at The Cavendish Hotel – The Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire

It’s not every day you get to eat in a restaurant where the head chef made it to the 2019 Roux Scholarship Final, so when I was invited to have lunch at The Cavendish Hotel on The Chatsworth Estate in The Peak District, there was no way I would miss the opportunity. Dad was my date for this lunchtime delight. He appreciates good food and wine, and it’s a long time since we have spent time one on one, so felt like the perfect plus one for the occasion.

REVIEW | An Overnight Stay at Manor House Lindley in West Yorkshire

I love that the Manor House in Lindley is near enough for a quick overnight getaway but that as you pull into the driveway you could literally be hundreds of miles from home. REVIEW | Gaucho, Leeds

The thought of a delicious rare steak with my favourite blue cheese all washed down with a full-bodied red was getting me all hot under the collar. Or maybe that was the fact that I was in the early stages of pregnancy…! My dream meal was staying just that.  On the plus side, I knew my companion would fully partake in my aforementioned dinner of choice, so it gave me a good opportunity to try out what else was on offer.

REVIEW | The Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey – The Yorkshire Dales

The Devonshire Arms at picture-perfect Bolton Abbey on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is one of Yorkshire’s most fabulous and intimate places to stay. It's old school, luxurious, and a proper treat for anyone looking for a romantic 24 hours. For me, the hotel's location always congers up scenes from the original hit musical; Mary Poppins, where Dick-Van-Dyke chalks a perfect picture of the English countryside and they all dive in for a day out in the country.

REVIEW | The Devonshire Arms Inn at Beeley – Hotels in The Peak District

My mantra has always been that a hotel room is a means to an end. It’s a bed that you need after visiting somewhere far more interesting than the four walls where you sleep. How can a hotel room really be much different from another? Oh, how wrong I was. The Devonshire Arms at Beeley, hands down, the nicest hotel room I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. Period.
