RECOMMENDATION | A Walk in the Dales- Janet’s Foss, Gordale Scar and Malham Cove

Departing from the beautiful Yorkshire Dales village of Malham this walk was recently voted number 3 of the top 100 walks in all of Britain by Channel 4 viewers and definitely deserves this accolade.  It takes in 3 of the most stunning natural wonders in the dales and is also suitable for walkers of most abilities.  In all, it is just under 5 miles so it will take about 2 to 2.5 hours or possibly slightly longer depending on how long you dwell at the landmarks and if the weather allows for packed lunching atop the majestic Malham Cove.

RECOMMENDATION | A Visit to Bolton Abbey in The Yorkshire Dales

As we descended down to the banks of the River Wharfe at Bolton Abbey on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, it truly felt like we had gone back in time. Not to a time when monks roamed the old Abbey – and they most certainly did before Henry 8th had his way, but to my childhood when summers were filled with fresh-air-filled family days by a river, basking in the sunshine, bathing in the water and playing on the makeshift beach. Long before the X Box and the Nintendo Switch.

RECOMMENDATION | Harlow Carr Gardens, in Harrogate

RHS Harlow Carr Gardens is situated just outside of Harrogate town centre and is the perfect place to run your kids tired whilst taking in a bit of nature. Its twisting and winding paths have a magical “Narnia” feel about them, as you walk through tunnels of ancient trees that seem to whisper delicious secrets to you as you pass.

Now we’re properly into December and have truly embraced the spirit of Christmas and better still – I’ve had a chance to sample some of the best events in Leeds.

REVIEW | Christmas at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire

When I was invited to visit Christmas at Chatsworth House I was genuinely over the moon. With the big change in family dynamics this year (jumping from a family of three to five), I really wanted to do something special for Emily. Recently turning four, she’s at the age to get super excited about Christmas, so doing something memorable to kick-start our festive celebrations was important to me.

RECOMMENDATION | Goose Play Centre, Harrogate

My reaction is rather less euphoric. Watching my little precious diving head first into a ball swamp of gastroenteritis or having to rescue her on my hands and knees from a sticky labyrinth of noxious smelling tunnels, is my idea of a garishly coloured padded hell. I prefer the two little words ‘spa day’ to be honest.
