Children’s Wellbeing | Kids these days – they’ve got it made – or have they?

I'm a primary school teacher and I'm a mum to a beautiful, bright and bubbly six-year-old. I witness the ups and downs of wellbeing in children every day. Every parent faces the same dilemma - how to ensure the wellbeing of our children - particularly from a mental health perspective in a world that is more pressured than ever in more ways than one.

REVIEW | Manor House, West Yorkshire

I love that the Manor House in Lindley is near enough for a quick overnight getaway but that as you pull into the driveway you could literally be hundreds of miles from home. It’s set back from the quiet buzz of the high street which, due to its great independent shops, bars and restaurants, has been in the past referred to as the “Knightsbridge of the North”.

RECOMMENDATION | Wainhouse Tower, Halifax

If you live in Halifax you’ve probably driven past Wainhouse Tower and not realised that for a few quid you can pay a visit and climb its spiral staircase. It’s “just” 403 steps to the viewing gallery (great leg workout) and there you can take in the stunning sights over Halifax and beyond.

KID-FRIENDLY WALK | Bingley St Ives Estate – West Yorkshire

Since becoming dog owners we’ve tried to find places that keep children and four-legged friends equally happy and Bingley St Ives Estate does just that. I’m better at eating cake than baking it, but this Banks family recipe has been cautiously handed down to me and so far I’ve never managed to mess it up. It’s a simple, failsafe bake that’s easy enough to do with children and is guaranteed to go down a treat.

REVIEW | Louise Pollitt Family Photo Shoot in Yorkshire

There’s nothing I like better than digging out old family photo albums and sitting down flicking through; laughing at the crap outfits and bad haircuts and reminising about the time you pushed the car up the driveway in your birthday suit (aged 3 I should add!) I love having framed photos around the house and quite frankly, this “cloud” that we all trust to guard our treasured snapshots to scares me to death.
