Transport yourself to France for the best of British – afternoon tea. This is one you might need to skip breakfast for!

Worth paying a babysitter? Not needed – we brought a 3 year old and a newborn!

Expect: A generously portioned afternoon tea filled with delectable treats and the biggest scones I think I’ve ever seen. All in an authentically French setting.

Value for money: (9 out of 10)  £45 for afternoon tea sounds a lot on paper. But we left absolutely stuffed full of gorgeous treats and you can’t really expect more than that from your afternoon outing!

As we scanned over the huge – and I mean huge – scones, thick wedges of sandwiched with generous fillings, macarons peeking out, chocolatey treats and fancy cakes we were a little worried we wouldn’t finish it all.

That’s how I like to start my afternoon teas, not worried I’m going to need a Greggs on the way home. Everything was delicious – particularly the sandwiches, with flavor combinations such as Brie, tomato & Onion Chutney adding something a little different to the usual Egg and Chicken, which were all beautifully done.

We really struggled to find something to complain about!

There are a few different types of Afternoon Teas in Leeds however for all the traditional treats you’d expect, Le Chalet sets the standard.

The Menu: Get your choice of 2 sandwiches. Add to that 2 canapes, 2 cakes or desserts, one macaroon, one scone with your choice of jam and cornish clotted cream. Uniquely – they also offer a hot-food afternoon tea with choices such as Croque Monsieur and Moules Marineres, which I can’t wait to go back and try!

COVID-19 UPDATE: Le Chalet are offering a number of amazing delivery options in the Leeds area, for keeping those special occasions special during lockdown.
